Q. I do not have any construction skills or experience. Can you still use me?
A. Absolutely! We employ two construction supervisors who are skilled at working with unskilled people.
Q. What will I be doing?
A. There are thousands of jobs that need to be done when building a house, from digging ditches to installing hardware. Depending on when you volunteer, you could be doing any of these jobs.
Q. Are you working on houses now?
A. Yes! We work all year long building new houses.
Q. I really do not want to work on the construction site. Can I still volunteer?
A. Absolutely! There are many opportunities to get involved by working special events, in the office, on a committee, etc.
Q. Will I have the opportunity to meet the partner family (homebuyer)?
A. Yes, families are required to work and earn 300 hours of sweat equity. Families are working on the job site, in the office and at our special events.
Q. Do I have to bring tools?
A. It is a good idea to bring the basic tools such as a hammer, tool belt, pencil, tape measure and utility knife. If you do not know how to use these tools, we will teach you.
Q. Do I need to sign a waiver?
A. Yes, you will need to read this waiver and sign it when you register on-line.
Q. Can I volunteer if I am younger than 18?
A. Yes, you can volunteer if you are 16 or 17, but you must print out this waiver, have a parent sign it, and then bring it with you to the job site.
