Habitat for Humanity of Evansville plans to virtually complete New Haven in 2008.

2008 construction is going well despite the rainy March and April.  Eight of the twenty-four homes planned this year have been started and partner families are working hard on their sweat-equity.  Eight more homes will begin between now and the end of August.  Landscaping installation is scheduled to begin in May.  Most of 2008 construction will take place at the New Haven subdivision on the corner of South Green River Road and Fickas Road.  As always, I certainly hope that you will, when your schedule permits, take the time to drive by and take a look.  Feel free to contact me if you’d like to tour a home.

As you know, Habitat partner families buy their houses—this isn’t a giveaway program.  The Habitat homebuyers make monthly mortgage payments.  Of course, no profit is added to the sale price of the home and they are sold with a zero-interest Habitat mortgage.  Those mortgage payments go into the “Fund for Humanity” and Habitat is able to build more homes with those funds.  What makes your gift today so exciting is that it will be recycled year after year as Habitat homeowners repay their mortgages.  You have made an important investment in the lives of Habitat partner families that will continue to give year after year.
